Georgia Golf & Travel Help Sponsor 2nd Annual "Swing for the Kids" Celebrity Golf Event at Brasstown Valley Resort
Georgia Golf & Travel, Home to The Georgia Golf Trail, teamed up for the 2nd Annual Swing for the Kids Celebrity Auction and Golf Tournament at one of the Trail members Brasstown Valley Resort and Spa in Young Harris, Georgia, this past August.
Georgia Golf Trail Founder Doug Hollandsworth states, "Christ's Starfish Foundation is 501 c 3 out of Florida, who does a great job in helping kids in hospitals that don't have Cancer. This organization works with the Children's Heathcare of Atlanta during the year." "Through our Trail member Brasstown Valley and Coral Hospitality, we have been working with the Foundation now for 2 years and are proud to be associated with this wonderful group."
Swing for the Kids Celebrity Golf Event and Auction, is now it it's 2nd year and with the help of former NBA Champion Gus Williams, the event is growing each year with celebrities like, former heavyweight contender Gerry Cooney, Heisman Trophy Winner, Georgia's own George Rogers and many others.
The event starts with a Silent Auction to help raise funds for the charity. Governor Deal and First Lady Deal have been apart of the activities both years. Children's Healthcare is represented as are many other groups that are working hard to help grow awareness of Christ's Starfish Foundation

Christ's Starfish Foundation is a 501(c) (3) Christian organization that helps hurting children and their families children at fifteen hospitals in four states including Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, and Indiana. We do this by providing two services. First we provide support to the child life specialists for all of the hospitals we serve. One of the biggest ways we do this is to provide Christmas presents to the children who are in the hospital on Christmas Day.
We also provide support to the families of children with non-cancer illnesses. The hospitalization of a child requires that at least one parent be with them during their stay. This often results in missed work and no pay. Examples of expenses we may help with would include rent or mortgage payments, electric bills, phone bills, gas expense, and food.
