Course Manager Bill Schuster comments on the day. "We were anticipating a decent turnout for our inaugural Open House, but when almost 100 guests attended, it definitely exceeded my expectations. Players from all over Northeastern Georgia, bordering South Carolina and as far south as Atlanta participated in the event. They got a first hand experience of our challenging course, its many facilities and wide ranging programs. The positive feedback I received from each player at the end of the outing was overwhelming. It was strong testimony to the kind of course conditions and customer service we offer to our patrons every day. I've had many golfers tell me that Highland Walk is the best kept secret in Northeast Georgia. I know that's meant to be a compliment, but we definitely don't want to be a secret. We have plenty of capacity for more daily fee players, annual members and group events. This Open House was great because it showcased absolutely everything we have to offer. We asked everyone who attended to tell 5-10 others about us."
Shuster continued, "Many organizations were instrumental with the success of this event. Specifically, WKLY and WLHR radio stations both provided live broadcasts and promoted our programs. Cobra PUMA Golf, Coca Cola, Bar-H Restaurant and the Georgia Golf Trail were vital sponsors and provided strong support. And most importantly, our fine staff was tremendous, especially the super 12 dedicated volunteers who did all the preparation work and made the day run as smoothly as possible."
"Coincidentally, the Open House happened to fall during the same week as Highland Walk's 15th year anniversary. Without a doubt, this day will be a highlight in our history and have a positive impact on our programs and activity going forward. We're planning on doing another one next year."
